Dr. Anne Marie de Passillé Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Background/Area of Expertise: Animal Welfare, Dairy Cattle welfare, Dairy Cattle behaviour, Lameness, Cow comfort, Man-animal interactions: fear of humans and handling;Calf housing, feeding and behaviour, On farm assessment of animal welfare. Bio: Dr. Anne Marie de Passillé is renowned internationally for her work in animal behaviour and welfare. She completed her Ph.D. in animal behaviour at McGill University and joined Agriculture and Agri-Food canada working at the Lennoxville Research Station. She is currently working at the Agassiz Center in BC where she has joined colleagues from AAFC and the University of British Columbia to develop one of the biggest and most exciting programs researching dairy cow welfare in the world (UBC Dairy Research and Education Centre). Dr. de Passillé has authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed scientific journal publications, many other book chapters and chapters in conference proceedings. She has also published over 100 abstracts for scientific conference presentations, as well as many book reviews and popular articles. Anne Marie is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of animal welfare science and is frequently invited to give lectures and conference presentations to scholarly, scientific and industry audiences. Dr. de Passillé is involved in collaborative research with scientists from countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Japan and Australia .
